Founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, DC in 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha is the world’s oldest Greek-letter organization established by African American college-trained women.  In order to ensure perpetuity, the organization was incorporated in 1913. Today, Alpha Kappa Alpha has over 355,000 initiated members in chapters located in 11 countries. Members are either inducted at the undergraduate level (while attending college) or at the graduate (alumni) level by invitation only. Chapters are geographically divided into 10 regions, reporting each to a Regional Director.  Alpha Kappa Alpha is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois and is led by International President & CEO Danette Anthony Reed of Dallas, Texas.
